The Solar Wings Booster Mk 2 gives you foot-launched hang gliding from flat land; with a strong climb rate, no compromise on glide performance and very low noise levels. No more frustrating drives to crowded sites to find the wind blowing in the wrong direction (or not blowing at all) - just climb away from a field near home, switch off to enjoy free flying in the thermals of your choice, then either glide or power home.
IMPROVED DESIGN FEATURES
· Electric Starting: with automatic decompressor as standard and an internal plug-in NICAD pack. Coupled with our reduced weight fuel system with mini primer and filter and lighter throttle system with improved action lever, the Booster Mk 2 still weighs in at only 21kg. Typically 26kg with harness.
· Composite Shell: redesigned lightweight composite shell attaches snugly to harness, with a purpose-designed 7 litre internal QD tank. Designed primarily to be combined with the Edge 2 harness, but many modern hang gliding harnesses can be converted to suit the Booster Mk 2. Removal of external cables, stirrups etc for minimum drag
· Retractable Legs: Improved single pull leg retraction system with cable stowage.
· Hi-tech Folding propeller: centrifugally opening/closing carbon composite propeller for up to 10% better glide and sink rate compared to fixed prop. Prop fold facility with engine still idling or stopped as desired. Computer designed for minimum induced loss, teetering blades reduce directional instability with power applied. Energy absorbing teeter stops.
· Low Noise: quiet enough to hear the vario when cruising! Pegasus aerofoil intake air silencer/filter, 0% power loss with 3db noise reduction. Exhaust after muffler giving 0% power loss with 2.5db noise reduction. The Booster Mk 2 is quieter than other small powered hang- or paraglider units.
· Improved Power: Proven Radne Raket 120ES engine tuned for peak power on dynamometer. O ring chain drive for maximum transmission efficiency & reliability. Each Booster MK2 is individually checked for static thrust, typically 48kgs at 9400 rpm with excellent performance at speed.
· Centrifugal Clutch: clutch with prop brake, the propeller will rotate only when power is applied, and then it immediately opens out. Once the engine has been cut in flight, the brake is applied to stop rotation, allowing the propeller to fold for best gliding performance.
· Quick attachment to harness: via 2 quick-release pins taking less than 1 minute!
· Other Features: Ergonomically placed starter, choke & prop brake controls for simple in-flight handling, unique Pegasus wrist-mounted, thumb-operated throttle system with integral ignition cut-out switch and cruise control.
